Fitness Centers
University Recreation offers two fitness centers located in the HPER building and the Arkansas Union.
- The Donna Axum Fitness Center is located on the 2nd floor of the HPER building, split between the Multipurpose Fitness Space(HPER 220) and the current Donna Axum Fitness Center footprint.
- The Functional Training Space is located on the 1st floor of the HPER building in the racquetball court hallway next to UREC Cycle.
- The UREC Fitness Center is located on the 2nd floor of the Arkansas Union.
Policies
You must have a valid University of Arkansas or University Recreation ID card to enter any UREC facility. To learn more about fitness center do's and don'ts, refer to the Fitness Center policies.
Fitness Center Orientation Program
Our new Fitness Center Orientation Program will provide you with a better understanding of what equipment we have to offer, where it is located, and how to adjust the equipment piece to best fit your workout.
This program includes a 45 minute, 1-on-1 session with a fitness center staff member and can be completed in any of our fitness spaves including at HPER (Donna Axum Fitness Center, Multipurpose Fitness Space in HPER 220, or the Functional Training Space on 1st floor) or at the UREC Fitness Center located in the Arkansas Union. Olympic Lifting Programs
Beginner’s Olympic Lifting Clinic
For individuals new to Olympic lifting, the Beginner’s Olympic Lifting Clinic is a one (1) hour clinic that emphasizes proper technique as the critical foundation for learning Olympic lifts. The clinic is run by USAW Level 1, CSCS certified coach, and Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach for Razorback Athletics, Emily Guimond.
For experienced lifters, this clinic will offer the opportunity to review or improve form.
The clinic size will be limited to 10 participants, provide one (1) hour of technique instruction and hands-on lifting with coaching feedback. The snatch, clean, and jerk lift will be explained, but the instructor will teach and focus on the clean.

Train Like a Pro: Open Coaching with Emily Guimond
For those new to Olympic lifting or those who have been practicing for some time now, UREC is happy to announce that USAW Level 1, CSCS certified coach, and Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach for Razorback Athletics, Emily Guimond, has joined the UREC team to offer onsite coaching in Olympic Lifting.
Emily will be available in our Olympic lifting area of Donna Axum Fitness Center to provide actionable steps, direction, coaching, and a clear path to PR your Olympic Lifts.
Platform stations are first come, first served.
