University Recreation has taken extra precautions to help keep our members and staff healthy and safe. This includes extensive cleaning protocols, enhanced operating procedures, and social distancing practices within our facilities.  

Members will be able to reserve a time slot every hour on the hour for the duration of the day for 50-minute time slots. Reservations can be made seven days in advance. Due to capacity limitations, reservations are strongly encouraged in all spaces in order to guarantee a spot. UREC members can make a reservation through their member portal by visiting urecmembers.uark.edu. All UREC members will need to complete a Facility Access waiver prior to entry. This should be completed through the UREC Member Portal prior to coming to the facility, members will not be allowed entry without a completed waiver.

 Due to capacity limitations, reservations are strongly encouraged in all spaces in order to guarantee a spot. Walk-ins accepted up to ten minutes into the reservation time.  
 

Our fitness center equipment has been spread out to meet or exceed the Arkansas Department of Health directives. 

We have removed all equipment that would require the use of a spotter (bench press, military press, etc.) until social distancing guidelines are modified.  

Each piece of equipment will have an indicator sign that will notify the participant if the equipment has been cleaned and disinfected prior to use. Ready to use equipment will be indicated with GREEN and equipment that needs attention will be indicated with RED.  

 UREC staff are  regularly cleaning and disinfecting the facility and equipment.  Additional hand sanitizer stations are located throughout the facility.  Facilities Management provides midday and overnight custodial services to clean and disinfect common spaces. 

 UREC staff will complete a daily screening and are required to wear a face covering. 

UREC members are asked to bring their own  water bottle, sweat towel, member identification, and a face covering, which is required to wear at all times except when actively exercising. Members are expected to stay home if they are sick.  
 
Members must wipe down equipment before and after use and follow the state mandated social distancing guidelines.

UREC members are strongly encouraged to regularly wash face coverings per CDC and ADH guidelines. Do not share face coverings.

Patrons are required to reserve equipment by phone, please call 479-575-CAMP (2267) between the hours of 1:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m., Monday-Friday to request reservations. Reservations may be made up to one week in advance of the scheduled pick-up date. Beginning on July 23, reservations can be made for equipment pick-up on July 30.   

We are currently renting all equipment with the exception of sleeping bags, tents and sleeping pads. Members are encouraged to visit the UREC Outdoors Equipment Rentals webpage for up to date information related to the reservation process, equipment pick-up and return, and details regarding the specific equipment types available for rent at this time.

 
Yes, 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday for drop-in informal recreation.

Participants must present their ID to access the facility, wear a face mask at all times when not actively participating, maintain proper social distancing (6ft while not active, 12ft while active), bring own water bottle. bring own sports equipment.

No live soccer, football or ultimate frisbee scrimmaging is allowed at this time.

Limit of 4 per soccer goal, and 2v2 per sand volleyball pit.

Door 1 (located closest to the Meadow Street Parking Garage and Door 3 (located on Stadium Drive) will be open.

The pool will open on August 17. Face coverings are required to and from pool.  Members should shower at home prior to coming to pool as showers will be unavailable at HPER Bldg.

 Yes, the track is open and available for use during open hours of operation. Participants must stay 12 ft away from each other while on the track. Reservations are not necessary to use in this space. 

Yes, the functional training space is open. Capacity is limited to two participants at a time and a face covering is REQUIRED at all times in this space. Social distancing of 12 ft. is enforced. Users must wipe down equipment before and after use. UREC staff will disinfect the space twice a day. Reservations are not required.

 By entering the facility, you acknowledge that:   

    • I have NOT returned from travel to a “hot spot” designated by the CDC, or any overseas travel, within the last 14 days 
    • I have NOT had a fever of 100.4◦F or greater in the last 2 days 
    • I do NOT have a cough, difficulty breathing, sore throat, or loss of taste or smell 
    • I have NOT had contact with a person known to be infected with COVID-19 within the previous 14 days 
    • I agree to stay home if I am not feeling well 
    • I agree to adhere to all UREC rules and policies 
    • I agree to practice good hygiene, including limiting the touching of the face, frequent handwashing, and the use of hand sanitizer when entering and exiting the facility 
    • I agree to wear a face covering when I am not actively exercising 
    • I agree to adhere to social/physical distancing guidelines of 6 feet in common spaces and 12 feet when exercising 
    • I agree to minimize physical contact with others and surfaces in the facility 
    • I agree to NOT use equipment designated as closed 
    • I agree to wipe down equipment after every use 
    • I agree to adhere to the operational hours of the facility, understanding that closures are for sanitation and cleaning purposes. 
    • By physically attending UREC facilities and programs, I hereby assume all liability for my health and well-being

Activities will be modified to limit the number of individuals at one time and equipment used by examining the varied types of recreation and competition. https://urec.uark.edu/intramural-sports/sports-calendars/index.php

 

Club sport activities will be allowed, but facilitated in a way that allows for social distancing and limiting close contact activity. Each club will submit a plan for Fall 2020 activities. Some national governing bodies have postponed the start of their seasons, while others have yet to make a decision. Activities may be modified to limit the number of individuals at one time, equipment used, and type of drills or simulated competition. The aim is to have modified activities approved and starting late August-early September.

Personal Training: UREC is offering online personal training. Meet with your trainer in an online environment, receive workouts, and check in with your trainer to assure you are progressing. Cost, registration details, and more information can be found here.
