All UREC employees are encouraged to attend this event on May 3rd!  Event highlights include employee of the year awards, graduate recognition, seniority awards, lunch buffet, games, and prizes.  We hope to see all of you there!  Thank you so much for all your hard work throughout the year!

CPR for UREC Student-Employees

University Recreation requires all employees to have First Aid, CPR, and AED certifications.  If you already have a certification, you will need to give a copy of your certificate to your supervisor.  If you do not have a certification, or are about to expire, UREC provides classes specifically for student-employees throughout the semester.

How do I know whether I can take a “Challenge” or a “Full Course”?
Red Cross CPR certifications are valid for 2 years.  If your certification has not expired yet, or expired very recently (within a few months), and you are able to show proof of your certification date, you are eligible to sign up for the Challenge.  The Challenge is a refresher and re-test of skills, and is only offered during UREC student-employee training prior to each fall semester.  If you have never been Red Cross certified before, or have been expired for more than a few months, you will need to register for the Full Course.  The Full Course runs approximately 3 hours, so plan ahead when making your schedule.

How do I sign up?
UREC student-employees are responsible for registering themselves at the UREC Membership Office in HPER 225.  Participants who need to cancel their registration are asked to do so as soon as they realize that they have a conflict, so that the space is available for others to register.  UREC student-employees who fail to show up to a class for which they are registered will receive a strike.

Why can’t I take the regular CPR classes that other people can sign up for?
The community CPR classes that are held in the HPER Building are open to the public and cost money to attend.  UREC student-employees are not allowed to register for these classes unless they pay the required registration fees.  UREC student-employee classes are adapted to better fit the needs of employees, and are provided at no cost.
